This project dives into the Croatian tradition of Sicanje, tattoos with deep cultural ties worn by traditionally women for protection and identity.The designs are based around nature and community. I moved these symbols onto key parts of the house (the table, the door and the walls) to act as giant symbols to protect the house and its inhabitants. The style and techniques are nearly dead so I want to bring attention to this incredibly rich and beautiful practise.
